A huge fish that was stranded in an eastern North Carolina river was towed back to the safety of the Atlantic.

NewsChannel 12 viewer Janet Foley said the 100-pound sunfish was stranded in the Neuse River near her home on River Ridge Road.

Initially, they got the fish into a net to keep him from crashing into the dock, and soon after towed him two miles down the river and said he immediately swam toward the ocean waters.

The Ocean Sunfish is the largest bony fish in the world, according to National Geographic, and can grow to 5,000 pounds.
