Would you eat fish or prawns caught in the Brisbane River? For some anglers it's back on the menu

When you think of where fresh Queensland seafood comes from, does Brisbane River spring to mind?
Famously dubbed the "brown snake", its sediment-filled estuarine waters are home to several fish and prawn species coveted by fishers and diners undeterred by the waterway's frequently muddy-brown colour.
 

Bush 'n Beach Fishing Magazine editor Ben Collins said areas around the river's mouth at Nudgee Beach were thick with "monster" banana prawns at this time of the year.

"You basically just need a cast net and a bucket to put them in," he said.

"If you love your prawns, I'd be heading out there and you're almost guaranteed a good feed."
