Ученые обнаружили, что рыбы-лучники умеют считать

Ученые из университета Тренто в Италии в ходе эксперимента обнаружили способность рыбы-лучника (брызгуна) считать.
Препринт исследования опубликован в bioRxiv. В ходе работы рыб заставляли плеваться. Дело в том, что рыба-лучник охотится струей воды: она перемещается к поверхности воды и сбивает водой добычу в воздухе.
 

Насекомое падает в воду и рыба может полакомиться им. Так, исследователи поместили таких рыб в резервуар с водой, а потом поместили на него несколько дисков с разным количеством точек.

Ученые научили рыбу плевать струей воды на диски с определенным количеством точек на них, например, шестью. Потом они показали рыбе серию пар дисков с разным количеством точек на них.
