По своей прожорливости окунь превосходит большинство других хищников, например, даже щук. Окунь жаден до того, что порой, не успев проглотить одного малька, устремляется за другим. Хотя, по литературным данным, вес окуня достигает 3 кг при росте около 50 см, но подобных гигантов встречать не приходилось. Обычный вес хищников 100–200 г.

Ужение окуней дело не сложное – главное, найти участки охоты стай хищников, а приманку они схватят обязательно. Окунь рыба дневная, ловить его можно все светлое время, но самый активный клев начинается не ранее 8 часов утра и продолжается приблизительно до 12, а потом уже с 15 до 18.
