Bass fishing seeks Olympic stage

The biggest names in fishing are trying hard to persuade the International Olympic Committee to make bass fishing an Olympic sport.

Leading this campaign is Charlie Evans, coach of the United States bass fishing team. Evans, former president and chief executive officer of Fishing League Worldwide, has the connections to elevate the international appeal of bass fishing.

On Monday, Evans said that Johnny Morris, founder of Bass Pro Shops, has pledged to commit significant financial support to Team USA. Evans said that Morris's support will provide U.S. anglers the best equipment, best tackle, visually appealing uniforms and, possibly, identical bass boats and motors with identical wraps to use in international competition.
