“This isn’t the worst it’s been, but it’s pretty bad,” the Little Campbell River Hatchery’s manager Bill Ridge said Wednesday (Oct. 12). Not a single salmon or trout has made its way up the river to spawn so far this fall. Where last year’s floods turned the 29-acre property into a swimming pool, this season’s near total lack of rainfall has left the stream-bed high and dry, making access impossible for returning fish.
