As expected, ice fishing pressure on Lake of the Woods dropped dramatically during the winter of 2023-24, the result of unusually mild temperatures that hindered ice conditions and access, results from an annual winter creel survey show.

That’s down from about 3 million hours of ice fishing effort during the winter of 2022-23 and the six-year average of 2.4 million angler-hours, Skoog said.
