Norwegian farmers urged to consider culling salmon as deadly jellyfish appear

Salmon farmers in Norway are being urged to prepare to take drastic measures to protect the welfare of their fish following reports of mortalities and severe wounds being caused by the appearance of string of pearls jellyfish in several production areas in recent days.
 

According to the Norwegian Food Safety Authority, these venomous jellyfish can burn salmon on their skin and gills, can make the fish stressed and exacerbate the impact of other diseases.
