High School Fishing National Championship on Lake Hartwell

Nearly 3,000 visitors, from competitors to families and spectators, descended on the launch area of Green Pond Landing & Event Center at the 15th annual High School Fishing World Finals and National Championship on Thursday on Lake Hartwell in Anderson County.
 

The 437 teams from high schools in 33 states and teams from Canada and Zimbabwe compete through Saturday, June 22, in the dual high school bass fishing tournament with a National Championship and World Final. Ethan Evatt and Bryson Gurley of the Palmetto High School team, finished 13th in the National Championship and 26th in the World Finals. Austin Short and Jacob Greenwood, Travelers Rest High Devildog Anglers, were the next highest Upstate team, placing 40th in the World Finals followed by Cody Abbott and Bryson Osment of Byrnes High finishing 48th.
