Supporting small-scale fisheries in an aquaculture world

A recent study into the interactions between marine aquaculture development and small-scale fisheries has highlighted the need for marine planning to prevent conflicts over resources and markets.

Whilst the continued growth of aquaculture may be celebrated for its contribution to global food and employment security, it can have a negative effect on competing sectors when sufficient planning and integration is absent.
