Финальная стадия половодья на малых и больших реках средней полосы образно называется «рыжей водой» – это говорит о том, что значительная часть сильной мути, вызванной отходом грунтовых вод, уже прошла и вода повсеместно заметно осветлилась, но летних кондиций прозрачности пока не достигла. Также данный период характеризуется тем, что реки практически входят в берега, вода в них начинает интенсивно прогреваться, а многие рыбы скапливаются в прибрежной зоне и в мелководных заливах со слабым течением в преддверии массового нереста.

Именно в пору «рыжей» воды накануне икромета на реках в проводку прекрасно ловится самая крупная плотва. Однако для успеха рыбалки надо знать некоторые сезонные секреты.
