С вечера никак не мог заснуть. Рыбалка на таежной речке, до которой мы с дядей Сашей поедем верхом на лошадях, будоражила сознание. Тогда, в свои десять лет, я уже считал себя заядлым рыбаком. Ловил карасей, пескарей, на живца – небольших щук-«карандашей».

Каждое лето у бабушки в деревне оттачивал мастерство. День на реке, день на пруду – так и пропадал там целыми днями. Домой возвращался уже по темноте. Мать, вздыхая, говорила:

– Ох, и рыбак! И в кого только. Ну посидел бы с утра, а как клевать перестало, шел бы домой, а то ведь голодом целый день!
