Я знаю, что здесь много леща. Он попадается в сети местных жителей, но на удочку клевать не хочет. Если встать на лодке по кромке островной полосы травы, прикормить место и забросить пару удочек, положив их на борт лодки, то можно через какое-то время дождаться поклёвки подлёщика или густеры.

Вместе с этими плоскими «лещёдками» и плотва-сорожка начинает теребить наживку. Но где ходит этот толстогубый и золотобокий матёрый лещ? Я пробовал ловить и на манку, и на кукурузу. Но на Волге, пусть и мелководной, являющейся частью Чебоксарского водохранилища, рыба брала только на червя и опарыша. А растительная насадка малых рек не соблазнила даже худосочного подлёщика.
