Most of those from Ida are in an area where the storm was moving slowly before it left the state, said Robby Maxwell, whose job as inland fisheries technical adviser includes being that division's fish kill coordinator. Ida killed at least 28 people and did billions of dollars of damage in Louisiana. The department has estimated that fisheries damages totaled $218.7 million to $240.9 million. By comparison, the total fisheries damage for the three hurricanes that hit the state in 2020, Laura, Delta and Zeta, was estimated at $80.6 to $120.9 million. The state's agricultural damage is estimated at at least $584 million.
