Angler busted for using gobies as live bait, hid other fish in a bag

An angler was recently caught using an invasive gobies as live bait while he fished for out-of-season smallmouth bass with too many lines, officials said.

The angler was using live gobies to fish for smallmouth bass on Lake St. Clair before the season opened, according to a recent enforcement report from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. He hooked four fish, three of which were undersize, and put them in a black bag that he hid at the base of a trash can.
