Police investigating beloved blue gropers alleged death by spearfisher

A spear fisherman has faced backlash over the death of a beloved blue groper that the diving community in Sydney's south had named "Gus".

Police responded to calls from concerned members of the public at Oak Park, south of Cronulla at about 5pm on Saturday.
It is understood that the well known local fish had been killed, breaking state fishing regulations and the hearts of the local diving community.
