After three months of attempts at catching a koi fish from his neighborhood pond, a Houston-area middle schooler hooked the catch of a lifetime. Valentino Pickett, a sixth grade student from Polly Ryon Middle School, recently reeled in a 15-pound golden koi fish out of a neighborhood pond in Greatwood Charleston Estates, a neighborhood located within the Sugar Land area, according to a report from the Fort Bend Herald. |

Valentino, who loves to fish and play basketball, had reportedly been trying for three months to catch one of the koi before he finally landed the monster-sized carp, according to the Fort Bend Herald. "He was so excited that [he] asked a complete stranger to please take a picture of him," wrote the newspaper. In the photo, Valentino is seen hoisting up the giant, orange-colored carp using his left arm. The fish was reportedly released shortly after the photo was taken. |
