The Florida Fish and Wildlife Research institute was sent a picture from New Smyrna Beach of a strange, unique looking fish.

Researchers identified the fish as rare deep-water, bottom-dwelling fish called a jellynose fish.

FWC believes the young fish likely washed ashore from currents and eddies spinning off the Gulf Stream
