Was the Massachusetts record for largest fish caught broken in 2023?

There were no record sized fish caught last year, breaking a years-long trend of broken records.
Every year, the Massachusetts Department of Fisheries and Wildlife reports record sized fish caught throughout the state. In 2022, four record sized fish were caught and three of those were caught in western Massachusetts.
 

However, MassWildlife told 22News there were no reports of record sized fish caught in 2023. Last year was a chaotic year for fishing, with constant flooding throughout the summer along the local rivers.

If you think you have caught a record sized fish, you can report it to MassWildlife but there are some strict rules to follow for catch and release. The fish must be measured at the location it was caught and photographed next to a measuring device. The fish must then be released
