Thousands of fish washed up dead in Chicago in latest bizarre mass animal deaths
Canada geese and mallard ducks have been seen gulping down the dead or dying gizzard shad fish on the Chicago lakefront.

The deaths have left wildlife experts puzzled but one biologist said the cause could be Chicago's early onset of thick ice in December.

Meanwhile in Geyserville, California, more than 100 birds dropped dead just off Highway 101.

Police, who found the birds, said they showed no sign of injury and described them as small with brown and black feathers.

The fish and bird deaths are the latest in a series of mass animal deaths all around the world.

In Florida thousands of dead fish have been found floating in a creek, while in Texas 200 American Coots were discovered dead on a bridge in Tyler.

In Wilson County, Tennessee, 100 blackbirds dropped dead from the sky and in New Zealand, hundreds of Red Snapper fish washed up dead.

Brazil scientists have also been left baffled after 100 tons of sardines, catfish and croaker washed up dead near Parangua.
