A mum has issued a warning to visitors to Lincolnshire's beaches after her 12-year-old son was left in excruciating pain when he was stung in the foot by a weever fish.

Gemma Vicary was visiting Chapel St Leonards with her family, including her son Jadyn, on Friday, August 21 but an innocuous trip to the beach soon turned into a nightmare for the whole family.

Jadyn was playing in the sea when he was stung on the foot after unknowingly standing on the poisonous fish, which are known for burying themselves under the sand.

He was left in excruciating agony. The pain became so bad, the 12-year-old even asked to be put to sleep to make it go away.

Gemma told Lincolnshire Live: "I just heard him screaming. At first I thought he had stepped on a glass bottle.

"He has autism and he started to have a panic attack because of the pain.
