People in the UK who fish have been warned over a £443 fine. Christopher Way, from Plymouth, has been cruelly fined £443 for an illegal fishing trip in a UK seaside town after making a £7 blunder while casting his line in Cornwall.

The fisherman, from York, was caught at Porth Reservoir, Newquay, and found guilty of using an unlicensed rod and line for fishing freshwater fish or eels in regulated waters. The 30-year-old contravened Section 27(1)(a) of the Salmon and Freshwater Fisheries Act 1975.
