У берегов Канады поймана самая большая в мире белая акула

Исследователи, работающие в водах канадской провинции Новая Шотландия, выловили огромную белую акулу, которая весит 1606 килограммов и имеет длину 5,23 метра. Ученые из OCEARCH, неправительственной организации, занимающейся метками и взятием проб у белых акул, провозгласили акулу-самку "королевой океана" и назвали ее Нукуми в честь легендарной мудрой старой бабушки индейского народа микмак.

Ученые также опубликовали видео, которое показывает, как Нукуми лежит на специальной подводной платформе, построенной на борту исследовательского судна, в окружении исследователей, а затем уплывает прочь. Группа исследователей в ходе своей миссии использует данные, чтобы узнать о моделях миграции и раскрыть ранее неизвестные подробности о жизни акул.
