Taiwan blocks 18,000 kg of Japanese fish due to excessive chemicals

A shipment of more than 18,000 kg of frozen fish from Japan has been rejected at Taiwan's border due to the presence of excessive levels of cadmium, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said Tuesday.
 

The batch of 18,450 kg of frozen banded blue sprat will be destroyed or returned to its country of origin, the FDA noted in its weekly report on intercepted imports.
