Man drowns in Brazilian river after hooking monster fish on trip with friends

A fishing trip ended in tragedy when an angler drowned after hooking a monster catch in Brazil.

Allax Melo, 23, had joined friends for the trip on the Araguia River near the village of Itxalá in Santa Terezinha Monday when he fell off the boat.
 

Two friends told police that Melo had caught a redtail catfish and was trying to pull it out when he lost his balance.

They said they attempted to rescue him, but the river current dragged him away.
