Hundreds of thousands of rare native fish released to Yangtze River

To mark the Ninth National Fish Day, over 200,000 rare baby fish were released in the five cities along the Yangtze River. It's the first time environmental welfare organizations in those cities have cooperated like this, and they want to promote the concept of "joining hands to save endangered fish and build life in the Yangtze River."
 

On June 6 – the Ninth National Fish Day – 220,000 fish were released at stations in Kunming, Chongqing, Wuhan, Nanjing and Shanghai. Among the species were Chinese sturgeon, Dianchi Golden Line Fish, Yangtze River sturgeon, mullet, Shatangli fish, and other rare and native fish. It's hoped the release will help to further restore aquatic resources and protect the biodiversity of the Yangtze River Basin.
