High school football coach catches world record-sized 143lb catfish
A North Carolina football coach made this Father's Day one to remember during a family fishing trip - after reeling in what experts believe is a record-breaking catch.

The 143lb blue catfish Nick Anderson baited at the Kerr Reservoir along the Virginia-North Carolina border on Saturday could be the largest ever caught.

The monster, which measured in at 57 inches long and 43-and-a-half inches wide, breaks the current record by 13lbs.

According to the International Game Fish Association, the current world record of 130lbs was set in May, 2010 by Greg Bernal of Florissant, Missouri.

Mr Anderson, who is head coach for Kinston High school's Vikings, said the fish was caught around the Goat Island area near Clarksville.

He would not disclose what bait was used but said it was caught using an Ugly Stick rod with a 30lb test line.
