If you are skirmish we apologise as a beach discovery might make you a little uneasy.

As our colleagues at Teesside Live report, a man has documented finding a rather imposing looking fish on Redcar beach, North Yorkshire. Michael Male has spoken of finding the remains near the Zetland Lifeboat Museum and Redcar Heritage Centre.

Michael got closer than some might manage to grab some photos of the fish which is describes as having ‘sharp teeth and being ‘very nasty-looking’. Being a little startled, Michael then returning home to research the matter.

He believes his discovery is a monkfish. Michael explained: "I was at Redcar today and found the skull of a very nasty-looking fish with loads of sharp teeth. I’ve not seen this before so any idea what it could be?"

"It was down the end of where the lifeboat museum is, around 12pm, the tide was out when I noticed it there was no one around it so before it, I couldn’t say if anyone saw it as well but from what I saw no one had been near. I was in the sea a short while after and saw a small fish scurrying along the sand it was quite stealth roughly eight to 10 inches.

"When I got home, I asked a couple (of) people what it could be, monkfish popped up so I googled it, looks similar but not 100 per cent sure. I think it’s fascinating that something like this is on Redcar beach."
