Ontarios Loonhaunt Lake delivers memorable fishing adventure for first-time visitors

Georgia fisherman Matt Brownlow had just caught his first-ever walleye – a fish of perfect frying pan size – followed minutes later by another walleye that stretched the tape at 25 inches.
 

A more joyous fisherman would have been hard to picture on this sunny Sunday in early August.

It was the first full day of a fly-in fishing trip to Loonhaunt Lake in northwestern Ontario, and Matt Brownlow and his father-in-law, Tom Matthews, were testing the waters and learning the ropes of Canadian walleye fishing – jig-and-minnow style.
