 Тюменская область испокон веков считалась рыбным краем. В старину сосьвинскую селедку и сибирского осетра поставляли к царскому столу. И в советскую эпоху, даже в тяжелые годы Великой Отечественной войны, на фронт отправляли тонны муксуна и нельмы. А сейчас с Дальнего Востока в регион везут диковинную для сибиряков чавычу, нерку, кету.

Почему, и надолго ли пропала наша знаменитая белорыбица?
 

Андрей Матковский: Обь-Иртышский бассейн, действительно, всегда славился своими рыбными ресурсами. Главным образом сиговыми. Но и осетра со стерлядью было немало. До тысячи двухсот тонн осетра добывали в те времена, о которых вы говорите, более ста тонн стерляди, до трех тысяч тонн муксуна. Обь-Иртышский бассейн кормил не только Тюменскую область, но и весь Советский Союз. Здесь добывалась треть пресноводной рыбы страны.
