“There’s something in the water!” she called to her husband.
As she was pulled out of the water Anika’s parents were horrified to see her foot covered in blood.
“I kicked and swam and got her back to the dock,” said Nancy. “We looked at her foot and it was just shredded, too many cuts to count.”
Neighbouring cottager Debbie Smith, a detective in the major crimes division of the Ontario Provincial Police in Niagara, came running when she heard the screams.
She assessed the situation and drove the family to the marina in her boat.
