Young fisherman, 13, reels in huge fish that weighs 46.9lbs and is as big as him

A young fisherman is walking on water after catching a catfish that was as big as him.

Curtis Welch, 13, caught the monster fish - which weighed more than three stone at Orchid Lake in Oxfordshire on a visit with a family friend earlier this month.

The 4ft 10in schoolboy eventually pulled the whopper out of the water and discovered it was the same height as him.

The teenager, from Coventry, West Midlands, has been an avid angler since he was just seven years old.

But Curtis had the surprise of his life when his bite alarm went off to say there was something on the end of his line.

He said: 'I was really excited when I realised I’d caught something, but I thought it was going to be something much smaller. I rushed down to the lake to see what was on the end of my line.
