Texas officials are reminding pet owners about illegally releasing non-native fish into streams, lakes and other bodies of water. The warning comes after an angler caught an invasive fish with human-like teeth at Lake Meredith National Recreation Area in the Texas Panhandle last weekend.

The Lake Meredith Aquatic & Wildlife Museum posted about the finding on Saturday, August 24 on Facebook, identifying it as a South American fish called a Pacu. The species are related to piranhas, however, they have some key differences. Pacu are vegetarians and have teeth that look similar to human teeth, the museum said.
