Плотва вместе с карасем и окунем, вероятно, самая распространенная рыба водоемов Подмосковья. Она обитает в реках, озерах, водохранилищах, не гоняясь за особо чистой водой. Ее обычный вес около 200 граммов, хотя, по литературным данным, встречаются экземпляры весом до двух килограммов.

В воде плотва, как и уклейка, проворна, изящна, и красива с подведенными золотом глазами и красным пятнышком на роговице.

Ужение плотвы поплавочной удочкой хорошая школа для рыболова.

Поклевка ее капризна и осторожна, поэтому во время подсечки идет постоянное соревнование, кто кого опередит: или рыболов подсечет добычу, или рыба собьет насадку.
