Over 600 dinosaur-like fish will be released into the Tennessee River on Friday in Chattanooga.

The Tennessee Aquarium Conservation Institute along with students from Ivy Academy will release the fish starting Friday at 11 in the morning.

They will be releasing juvenile Lake Sturgeon, considered dinosaur-like and a "living fossil" since they have remained relatively unchanged since the Cretaceous Period.

An endangered species in Tennessee, these fish can live for 150 years and can reach up to 9 feet long and 300 pounds.

Located in Chattanooga, the aquarium and students will release the sturgeon starting at 11 a.m. at the small watercraft ramp under the Market Street Bridge in Coolidge Park.
