Fishing on A.Y. Jackson Lake

Canada, ON, Sudbury Sault

Link |   |  FEFZS
A.Y. Jackson Lake is a beautiful body of water perched above George Lake. It can be accessed by trail, or a challenging unmarked portage from George Lake. It is a small lake of only 6.5 ha, has a maximum depth of 10.2 meters, and has clear waters. Unlike many of the lakes in Killarney Provincial Park, it is situated on top of granite bedrock instead of quartzite, which may explain its neutral pH and recovered status. A.Y. Jackson has diverse aquatic plant and zooplankton communities and is host to four fish species. The lake is named after one of the painters from the Group of Seven who frequented the area for inspiration.
