A Brinsmead woman, who wished to be known only as Christine, said she was “speechless” at the sight that met her as she tried her luck tossing in a line beside the lucky local fisherman.
“All of a sudden he got this big splash on the end of his line, we saw it jump, then it took off and the line flew 200 or 300 metres out,” she said.
“When he reeled it in I almost thought it had to be fake, it’s size was that unbelievable – everyone watching was in shock.”
She described the catch as “like a big sack of concrete” with “a mouth on it that could have swallowed a human head whole”.
“The guy was hardly breathing or talking, he was so puffed out just from carrying it in, all he could do was grab the camera and pass it to me,” she said.
The sole snap sheds little light on the man who made the magic moment happen, and according to Christine, that’s just the way he’d like it to stay. |
