Mom shares photos of creature that 'startled' her and daughter on fishing trip

A prehistoric-looking creature spooked a mother and daughter during a Minnesota fishing trip.

In July, Shala Holm posted about the unexpected incident on Facebook. She and her family were vacationing at Niemeyer’s Rugged River Resort.

Holm and her daughter went for a ride on a tandem pedal kayak to go fishing for crappies. Then her daughter heard something breathing in the water.

That’s when Holm said a 100-year-old snapping turtle grabbed onto her fish basket.

“It took me a while to shake him off!” Holm wrote in the post.
