На Антарктическом полуострове обнаружили новый вид рыбы-дракона

Открытие сделали исследователи из Института морских наук Уильяма и Мэри в Вирджинии, назвав новый вид в честь исследовательского судна Laurence M. Gould. Рыба-дракон отличается уникальной окраской с двумя вертикальными полосами на теле.

У нее тонкое тело, широкая морда, удлиненный рот и крупные овальные глаза. Изначально ученые обнаружили личинки рыбы у берегов Антарктиды при вылове зоопланктона. При сравнении взрослой особи Akarotaxis gouldae с близкородственной Akarotaxis nudiceps выявилась необычная деталь — две полосы на боках, отсутствующие у близкородственного вида.
