Международная группа исследователей показала, что длительное воздействие фармацевтических препаратов в воде меняет поведение рыб, их жизненный цикл и репродуктивное поведение. Пятилетнее наблюдения за пресноводными гуппи показало изменение анатомических особенностей и снижение адаптивности к окружающей среде.

Исследователи на протяжении нескольких поколений подвергали гуппи воздействию различных концентраций флуоксетина — антидепрессанта, известного под торговой маркой «Прозак». В течение пяти лет ученые проверяли, как воздействие препарата, влияет на поведение, физическое состояние и репродуктивное здоровье рыб.
