"The fish pond gave me someone to talk to any time I went out there hundreds of people a day were out there ... I don't suppose they will [be] now," Roger said.

The fish pond was so popular with the community that the fish's death was even covered by the local newspaper, with the Manly Observer calling it "a harrowing mishap".

And it's not the first time tragedy has struck.
