“When you’re starting to see 19-and-a-half pound lake trout out of Lake Champlain, that’s big news,” said Shawn Good, a fisheries biologist with the Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife. Angler Jeffery Sanford reeled in a 19.36-pound, 36.5-inch lake trout from more than 100 feet of water last August. It is the largest trout ever recorded in Lake Champlain.
