Амударьинская форель – одна из разновидностей лосося. Рыба эта сравнительно небольшая: ее размер редко превышает 20 см, а вес – 1 кг. Ее стройное гибкое тело покрыто серебристой чешуей и украшено яркими розоватыми, черными и белыми крапинками, разбросанными по всей верхней части тела рыбы, за что ее еще называют, по меткому определению Л.П.Сабанеева, «пеструшкой». На задней части спины расположен мягкий жировой плавничок.

Форель – хищная рыба с мелкими, острыми зубами.

В Узбекистане распространена только в верховьях Амударьи, где обитает в горных речках с чистой студеной водой.

Эта рыба отличается замечательными вкусовыми качествами, и хотя она немногочисленна, является увлекательным объектом ловли для рыболовов-спортсменов.

Форель крайне пуглива, осторожна и обладает большой силой.
